Services

Cheryl offers general counselling/psychotherapy services and prefers a deeper, gentler, more effective approach that is achieved by using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). This approach is effective for all types of trauma, negative emotions, unhelpful behaviours (addictions, food cravings etc.) and understanding the deeper unconscious influences we all have. Cheryl can also provide practical assistance with CPPD applications, as well as insurance forms and letters for things like insurance providers. Other tools and skills development support offered include meditation, self-care strategies and mindfulness techniques; as well as talk therapy.

EFT Unwrapped

A technique developed using ancient Chinese Medicine combined with modern psychology, EFT is an excellent tool to support those individuals who have experienced traumatic events/emotions, or facing significant challenges. Clients can learn the techniques easily and are encouraged to use them to process/calm their emotions at any time. EFT is an effective, non-medical approach that is safe and easy to use. Information about EFT is easily accessible to individuals wanting to learn the techniques to get started. However, those who really want to do “the heavy lifting” would benefit from having a therapist on their team. Most are amazed at what a difference it makes.

What Does EFT Involve?

In your hour long session, Cheryl will spend time talking to you and offering support in areas such as addictions, relationships, mood disorders, abuse, trauma, family matters and identity issues. Cheryl will then begin the tapping portion of the therapy session to process old, stuck ideas and emotions. All skills can be learned by the client to provide you with resources and empower you to take control of your own wellness. A typical EFT session is half talk therapy and half tapping/treatment. Recent research outlines how EFT is as effective as previously considered ‘gold standard’ techniques, except that it requires fewer sessions and the effects are longer lasting (Stapleton, 2019).

Are you Covered?

The healthcare crisis in British Columbia has made it extremely difficult for some individuals to receive the care they need. Cheryl’s services are covered, or at least partially reimbursed by several insurance companies including Manulife and Sun Life, if applicable. Some benefit providers will require you to check each plan to see if Social Workers are covered.

Direct billing is available as well for the below organisations (depending on your coverage):

  • Veterans Affairs Canada

  • First Nations Health Authority

  • ICBC

  • Metis Nation of BC (MNBC)

  • Crime Victims Assistance Program (CVAP)

  • Canada Life

  • Blue Cross
